While my husband had to work late, I decided to grab the kids hand, pulling her out the door, jump into the car, drove around the city until we both agreed which place would be tasty. So we ended up here. We started out with "my" Tom Yum soup and my daughter ordered the curry pup. See the emphases on "my"? As usual the Tom Yum soup was excellent and the kid enjoyed the curry pups. For our entree I ordered the Khing-Pad Thai and the kid had the Kee Mao or drunken noodles. Both were phenomenal! Our waitress was exceptionally sweet young lady, who was very patient with the kid, the kid wanted Thai tea or soda pop, while I on the other hand had other plans for what I wanted her to drink, you can guess which one won that battle, that's right, the one paying for the dinner! She got juice! Hey, if you not a parent, you wouldn't understand, but once you are one. Well, parents have to gloat once in a while when they win a argument! Back to the waitress. As far as any wait staff I have ever dealt with, this young woman ranked up there, she was great. She was from Japan, moved here via the military. Honestly, I can't figure out how that happened! All this time I thought we were a tourist town, then, bam! It slaps you in the face, there is a lot of military here! Ok, snarky comments tossed aside, with all the long hours and no weekends off for my husband, I can't help but grab every opportunity to eat, drink and be merry without feeling guilty about it, so we came here to dine. The decor is very nice and they have parking in the front and back of this place, so if you don't see any place to park in the front. drive around the building and there will be plenty of parking for you to find a spot.

The worst restaurant experience without even eating. We went there on 4.23.15 at around 5 P.M. There were 3 of us: my wife, my 6 year old grandson and I. The place was almost empty at the time. There were 2 young women sitting by the window facing the front parking area. The young man who works there wanted us to sit in the main area. I told him I preferred the booth by the window since it had more light. He said that he could not seat us there because his boss does not want kids sitting in that area... This sounded so stupid to me that I insisted on sitting where I felt more comfortable. He would not have it so we told him we were leaving. I am a visitor to Virginia Beach and do not know what his actions were motivated by. We are an older interracial couple, could this have been his reason? I had never had such an experience anywhere we traveled in the U.S. nor overseas. To the owner of Thai Arroy: if I were you I would let this worker go! He is hurting your business but if this was your idea you may want to reconsider how you treat your guests. We went to Bangkok Garden and left our money there.

Pretty authentic Thai food. We had the soft shelled crabs and duck pad Thai and it's one of the better Thai dinners we've had, even after coming from big cities like Toronto and Boston. The servers are also awesome!! Highly recommended!

Just like David D said, this was my first but NOT my last experience at Thai Arroy. I often drive by this place when going to church and have always wondered what this place was like. Thanks to Rick S for giving us the tip and given they were participating in Virginia Beach Restaurant Week tonight was for sure a great time to give this place a shot! First, the place is A LOT bigger than it looks. The ambiance is beautiful (even the bathrooms were stellar), the place was really clean and the staff was very pleasant and friendly. Take note to all of you who knows I'm a Bud Light guy. I had me a Thai beer tonight and damn was it good! So Yelp is slowly pulling me away from the factory beer and expanding my horizons. Our Yelp group started off with spring rolls with a sauce that was out of this world. I then had the Larb Kia: delighted flavoring Chopped chicken with ground chili, pepper, onions, mint mixed with lime juice and Thai spices. This was a great start to the meal. Then I had my entree, Valicious: crispy pork sautéed with Thai traditional chili paste, cashew nuts, onions, lemongrass, fresh basil leaves, scallions, cilantro and served with lettuce. This was pretty good but what I really liked was the Gangdang: Talay red curry in coconut milk cooked with seafood, fresh vegetables, basil, zucchini, bamboo shoots, baby corn, peas, string beans and carrots. I'm not a big coconut milk fan but I couldn't stop sipping on the sauce as if it were a drink! To top things off I had their fried banana dish for dessert. This dish gave me chills down my back and had me making noises I shouldn't be making at the dinner table. Rick S spoke very highly of the staff and tonight we experienced something great - food, service and camaraderie. Looks like these folks will see me here again and of course I won't be coming alone!

Thanks to Yelp and Restaurant Week for introducing me to Thai Arroy! Ever since I ate there a few days ago, I keep thinking about the Larb Kai. This is an appetizer-salady type of dish that to me can be described as chicken ceviche--a mighty fine, divine chicken ceviche. They take a bed of lettuce and top it with a generous amount of chicken crumbles (like what you get in chicken lettuce wraps) and then baste it in lime, chili, mint, cilantro, onion, and pepper. I definitely enjoyed my pad thai--it was packed with flavor but unfortunately I still need to figure out their spice levels. I ordered medium and it was like a level 1 mild. I tasted the Pad Mou Krop (Valicious), ordered Thai Spicy, and it too was mild. But, I definitely liked it--nice and crisp, nutty and pigalicious. So, no worries--I will figure the spice thing out. We did ask for a spice "tray" so I was a little surprised to see our waitress deliver a plate of tiny plastic to-go containers of the spices--wha-wha. Once you have worked your way through the meal, you must get the fried bananas drizzled in honey and pair it with the coconut ice cream. Dooo it, dooo it! Overall, I did love the place. Beyond the food, the bathrooms were immaculate, with superior attention to detail. Big perk! They also had quite an impressive wine selection for a local Thai restaurant--this definitely took me by a pleasant surprise. The entire staff was friendly and eager to make us cozy. Thanks to Rick S and Yelp for helping me find Thai Arroy! Larb Kai, anyone?? I'm down!

You couldn't tell from the outside, but the inside is really beautiful. Great service and amazing food. I'm definitely coming back.

Pad see ew was good but did not taste very fresh. The Chinese broccoli leaves were not cut into bite sized pieces. The pieces ranged in size from a couple inches to about 6 inches. The green papaya salad was good but also did not taste fresh. The texture was soft as if it had been soaked in its sauce for too long.

Very impressed! As someone who has been to Thailand over a dozen times, I think I know good authentic thai when I find it. Had a curry and Larb gai, spring rolls and pad cra paw kung. Everything was cooked to perfection, shrimp were large and excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would recommend this to anyone in the VA beach area.

I have had many different Pad Thai dishes. This restaurant was nothing short of amazing when it came to that. Also the Thai Iced Tea is to die for!! Ambience is very nice, and the staff is very friendly. Feels like home here :). I would absolutely recommend this place, for a good eat.

Amazing Thai food in VB - don't be fooled by the shopping center! They have a sister location in Fed Hill in Baltimore and both are really great. Have had the drunken noodles, panang, and pad thai and would recommend all. You won't be disappointed here. Great lunch specials too!

A true gem! Enjoyed a wonderful first-time lunch here on 10/30/14. Appealing/comfortable environment; stellar service; fantastic food; good value. What else is there? A perfect ending to an impromptu visit to Virginia Beach, and we'll definitely return when we again travel to Virginia Beach.

I'm from DE and vacationing for a few days in Va. Our first stop for dinner was here based on other Yelpers reviews. I had Beef Kha Prow, 14yr old daughter -- See Ew, 12 yr old Son --Soft Shelled Crabs and Wife --Coconut Curry with potatoes.. Forgot what it was named. Gladly, there weren't any surprises and we enjoyed the food for the most part with just a few minor complaints. All in all the food was tasty with good flavor and meats prepared well and we all cleaned our plates. As far as service goes this place stood out as the waitresses made us feel welcomed, were very pleasant and always checked in on us to ensure we were all ok-- something lacking in restaurants these days. The owner even stopped by to ensure the crab sauce wasn't too hot for my son. As far a desserts goes the Rice pudding and Coconut ice cream were delicious! We only ordered one of each, not only did I not feel for it initially but I thought it wouldn't have been as good as it was.

I chose this restaurant based on the Yelp reviews; the Yelpers were right! For our wedding anniversary, my husband and I wanted a quiet, relaxing evening and a good meal. This place more than filled the bill. Do not let the strip mall location deter you--we laughed about such a great restaurant in such an unlikely location (laundromat and 7-11 next door!). The ambiance is quiet and calm. The decor is all clean lines; attractive, modern and understated. The food is just plain excellent. We started with the curry pups--I actually had to stop myself from moaning when I took my first bite--it is that good. For the entree, I chose pad thai. I love Thai cuisine and I know pad thai is sort of a cop-out, but the dish was fragrant and savory with fresh, crisp vegetables and perfectly seasoned chicken. I ended with the bread pudding and (non-dairy) coconut ice cream. I was absolutely stuffed at this point, so I could not finish the bread pudding--but the combination of the fluffy, sweet bread pudding with the cool, refreshing ice cream makes me think that I will have to take a return trip for dessert only. The service was wonderful. The staff was so pleasant and genuine; they were more than happy to make recommendations from the menu. It was a treat to feel so well-taken care of on our special occasion. We are both looking forward to our next visit!

This place was awesome! Better than any thing in our large urban area. We had the pad see ew and the Penang and fish with veg. The waitress was very detailed and attentive making good suggestions on hotness etc. I would drive here to the beach just for the food. The owner talked to us and was very friendly. Food actually had a good authentic taste and nice and spicy at medium spice level. Can't go wrong here. Price was fair as well.

This was my first experience at Thai Arroy and definitely not my last. I've driven by this restaurant and never noticed it hidden in plain site. The interior is clean tastefully decorated with Thai motifs without being overdone. All visible facilities were very clean. Service was prompt and very friendly. I order the Pad Mou Krop (Valicious) from the "Chef's Choices" portion of the menu. It was also available on the Virginia Beach Restaurant Week menu. Taste was fantastic with enough heat to pop without being overbearing. Portion size was generous and had leftovers to take home. I was with a large group that had many other items on the menu and heard positive comments from around the table. Two Thumbs up: taste, price, portions, service, cleanliness, decor

If I had to make a choice for a last meal....it would ONLY be a dish from THAI ARROY! Every time my husband and I dine here we are amazed by the waitstaff, quality of food, outstanding array of dishes to order and the time it takes to receive our meal! We have dined here at least 25 times and I have NEVER been disappointed! How do they do it so well time and time again? From the moment we enter until the time we leave we are treated like royalty! Who wouldn't want to return to such pleasures weekly? Tonight was no exception....it was perfect again! We were about to order a pot of our favorite hot green tea when I decided I also had to have my favorite plum wine. My husband asked if they could heat the wine but then realized it would increase the sweetness making it too sweet. Just then, the manager came over to see how we were doing and made a great suggestion....so we took his suggestion and ordered warm Saki and plum wine together that complimented our two appetizers of fresh spring rolls (lettuce, egg, cucumber, cilantro and mint) served with Thai sweet and spicy sauce and Thai Steamed Dumplings (stuffed with chicken and pork) served with fried minced garlic and soy sauce. What a GREAT start to the evening! Next our entrees arrived and oh my but the aromas were out of this world! Rick ordered his favorite Gang Kheow Whan with green curry in coconut milk with bamboo shoots, baby corn, peas, fresh string beans, bell peppers, carrots, eggplant and an array of divine spices prepared for a King and I ordered my favorite Mussa-Pad Thai made with rice noodles sauteed with Southern Thai flavor paste, coconut milk, peanuts, bean sprouts and scallions. Dining here is like having our very own Chef attending to our wants and desires! What a way to go through life! For dessert we had Mango Sticky Rice and all I can say is it was perfection, perfection, perfection! Everyone, do yourself a favor and bring your friends here....they will love you for it! Thank you, Thai Arroy for your dedication to your craft! What would we ever do without you? See you soon!

I visited the restaurant for the first time by myself this evening. I've recently moved to Virginia Beach from Texas and there are a few great places for Thai that I enjoyed there but now that I'm living in VA Beach this is my new favorite Thai Restaurant. The Service for me is what has set them apart from anywhere else I've visited here so far and the food was delicious to boot. I had the Larb Kai for my appetizer it was fresh and the presentation was pretty to start, and the presentation got better with the entree Prik Khing it was so good(I had to go boxes for both because I was saving room for dessert of course) and I enjoyed the fried bananas with coconut ice cream for dessert.Don't let front plain signage fool you it's really nice inside and you have your choice of table, booth or sit at the bar like I did. I definitely will be checking in here again soon.

Definitely a fan of this Thai restaurant. They have all the traditional Thai dishes, but the specials when we were there included Whole Striped Bass with Mango Sauce, Whole Flounder with Curry Sauce, Grilled Marinated Quail, and Sauteed Farm Raised Frogs Legs. The crab fried rice is a bit pricey at $19, but absolutely delicious. Pricing is a bit higher than most Thai places, but also many many options for meats with each dish (including calamari, shrimp, and duck) All 3 dishes we tried from this restaurant were great, with the drunken noodles being the slightly average. Service is very friendly, and personable. One thing: Their spice levels are VERY legitimate. The hot is VERY hot. Great to know that their ratings match the description. Excellent Thai restaurant and would definitely go back.

Wow, pleasantly surprised!! My brother in law requested this restaurant for his birthday dinner. We showed up at 7 PM on a Sat night (no reservation) with a party of 6 + a toddler and we were seated immediately. We ordered regular & crispy vegetable spring rolls as an app & they were delicious. For dinner I ordered gang dang chicken curry & it was very tasty. I don't remember requesting a specific level of spiciness though & it was a bit too spicy for me. Lesson learned! My husband's entree (I can't remember what it was) was delicious as well & everyone else at the table enjoyed their entrees too. That's rare- no complaints at all from a party of 6! The waitress was very accommodating & brought out a Sugar Plum cake we brought with us for the Bday boy. They even cut the cake & served it to us. Can't wait to go back & try more Thai dishes! Next time I'd love to dine "family style" with a group so we can sample multiple entrees.

Wow... Surprisingly nuanced food, great flavor and texture. Very swift service and our server was cheerful and friendly. Why is that so hard at other restaurants? My dining partner was also very happy and declared his meal better than any in the Bay Area of California where he had grown up. I don't know about that, but my meal was delicious and I happily ate my leftovers for the next couple meals... Large portions are always appreciated!

One of the best. They have the greatest Papaya Salad I've ever had. The flavors that are coming out of the kitchen are very balanced.

My wife and I have visited and enjoyed Thai Arroy probably twenty times since my review in April of last year. Since I would have only repeated the praises of my first review by reviewing each of those visits, we just chose to enjoy ourselves each and every time, without again telling fellow Yelpers what a really super restaurant this is. But our latest visit over the Christmas Holidays really needs a special mention, and another very vocal vote from us for Thai Arroy being the absolute best Thai restaurant in Tidewater. So, almost all the family is in town for the Holidays --- our dinner party is 12 total; six adults, three teens and three under age nine (the youngest is three). In addition to the Holidays, it's also my wife's and my wedding anniversary --- so it's a big deal for us. Everyone wants Thai, and we certainly agree. I call for the reservation, and am immediately recognized on the phone and warmly greeted. "Does your 3-year-old need a booster chair?" they ask, without any prodding. We arrive at the restaurant, and our table is completely set --- including fresh flowers --- with the booster chair in among the adult chairs, not on a corner like so often happens. Everyone starts ordering drinks individually (except for the 3-year old), and it begins to look like we might be headed for a little chaos at the table. But no --- our long-time favorite server takes charge immediately, and walks to each person individually, greets them, and takes drink orders, one at a time. She then meets my eye, comes over to me, and says "Since you know our menu pretty well, how about if you and I make the food selections? Do you think everyone would approve of that?" And, with that, any possibility for chaos among the 12 of us was eliminated. I started with 6 orders of their wonderful fresh spring rolls, and added 2 orders of Thai Dumplings for our dim sum fans. I then selected four different curries, two sauteed meat and vegetable dishes, one duck dish, one fish dish, and two orders of my wife's favorite Mussa-Pad Thai for our entrees; plus, of course, several extra bowls of their wonderful jasmine rice. Our food delivery was perfectly timed and, as always, delicious, with their normal spiciness being toned down a little for the benefit of the children, but with their selection of fresh and powdered chilies being available as always for the old-timers to add as desired. And our visit went off without a hitch --- no complaining from the kids, everyone having one dish or another that they ABSOLUTELY loved, just the right amount of food to go around, and only one spilled drink for the entire evening. The usual unbeatable table-service that we always receive for two was perfectly replicated for our party of 12, without anyone experiencing any conflict or drama during our entire visit. And, once our server found out about our anniversary, my wife and I were presented with a complimentary split of champagne to help us celebrate --- a very nice concluding gesture for a visit that was very pleasant in every respect. And so we're getting ready to leave, the bill arrives, and it's well under $200 for the 12 of us. Granted, no alcohol --- but there were at least 6 Thai teas, plus tons of appetizers, 10 entrees and bowls-full of extra rice. So I say to myself "Only at Thai Arroy." And, like every other time we have come here and experienced their perfect service, wonderful food, lovely understated ambiance, and very reasonable prices, I really, really mean it.

This was my first experience with Thai food and MAN was I impressed. I'm glad I started at this place before trying the others because this is the one. The food is FANTASTIC and the staff is awesome. I had no idea what to order, but our helpful waitress was quickly able to narrow it down for me... I wanted something spicy so I went with the Drunken Noodles and my wife had the Pad Thai. Both were some of the best food I've ever had. We started with the crab rangoon... I had had it before at Chinese restaurants, but never like this. We ended with the homemade coconut ice cream with fried bananas... wow, I'm drooling thinking about it.

Thai Arroy is one of the best Thai restaurant in VA Beach! Service was outstanding! Their dishes never disappoint me! Although, you have to be careful whatever is spicy, they are spicy! Make sure to request if you're not a spice person! The next time I'm back in town, I'll be sure to stop by here again.

We visited Virginia Beach for the holidays and saw the great reviews on yelp so we gave it a tried. The serivces was great and fast. They were very friendly. We came with 4 adults and 6 six kids and we have no problem. They are kids friendly. We ordered almost everything on the menus and everything come out perfect. The foods is authentic and fresh. My favorite dish was tofu tod, it was crispy and fresh no odor. The salad was on point, the vegetables was green and not musty. The seafood on the pad thai was also fresh and crunchy. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I had a late lunch here, and the environment was relaxed with a very friendly staff. Good seating options and surprisingly reasonable parking accomodations for such a small location. My cousin got the green curry with shrimp, which he found to be great for those that don't mind a bit of heat, and I had the pad thai with tofu, which was everything I would expect from a great pad thai. Portions were fair and filling for two hungry young fellas. Don't expect the food to be dirt cheap, but it isn't expensive, either. It was very reasonable at about $12-$15 per person. Overall, I would absolutely recommend Thai Arroy to anybody looking for their Thai food fix. Just go there and enjoy yourself.

This place is outstanding. I mean, I love Thai food anyway, but even for delicious Thai food I felt like this was a cut above. We got the red curry with veggies and also the lad naan (off the menu) with tofu. Absolutely delicious and just the perfect amount of spice. The lad naan even had these fermented soy bean things that were so flavorful (looked like little peanuts) and shaved coconut on top. And for desert we had an outstanding coconut ice cream (vegan) with a tiny amount of whole peanuts on top. We couldn't get enough!! So delicious. We will definitely be coming back next time we are in town.

I really need to update and upgrade my favorite Thai restaurant. First of all I can walk here! Bonus points. Now that I've been a bunch (way too many times probably) the service is so friendly. They are so friendly when I come in. Big smiles and happy times. The food is ridic! I mean just heaven. I am pretty boring as I always get the same thing. I like the tofu gang dang. Or as I like to call it gang bang. Hey I am easily amused. Before I went full vegetarian I used to always get the gang dang pork. Yum!!! Sometimes I try to keep them on their toes and order fresh spring rolls. Also excellent. Thai tea is a winner too. Their salad dressing is also high on the yum factor. If you have not been here you are seriously missing out. I'm telling you. On this stupid snow day my stomach is growling and my favorite Thai restaurant in VB is sadly closed. Of course this entire town shuts the f#%k down when we get any snow! Now I have to *gasp* COOK SOMETHING!!! Noooooo! Ohhhh the horror!

Thai Arroy is a nice little hidden spot in VA Beach that you could miss in the blink of an eye if you don't keep an eye out. Thai isn't my initial cuisine of choice when I go out to eat; however, I never regret coming to this place because my experiences here have been excellent. For example when I ordered a green tea, I was under the impression that it was Lipton, but it was legitimate green tea. When I explained my misconception to the waitress, she gladly replaced my drink with no hassle and didn't still try to charge me for the first drink (as I've expierenced with some restaurants in the past.) The Thai tea that I got as a replacement was everything. It was so sweet! (Literally and figuratively) The spicy beef kehow kao-padi was excellent. It came in a fairly big portion, and was garnished beautifully ... I almost wanted to lick the plate. lol (I've also had it in chicken, which was equally as good.) For dessert I recommend the fried bananas and coconut Ice cream. Very tasty! All in all, if you love Thai food or even if it isn't your favorite cuisine (like myself) try Thai Arroy out. You'll love it!

Good prices, cool atmosphere. I would say the food was better than the average Thai spot, but nothing to really do back flips over. I got the drunken noodles and calamari to split with my girlfriend. The noodles were delicious, but I wasn't too crazy about the calamari, it was pretty average. Overall, I will go here again and try their other plates next time I can.

By far, the best restaurant in VA Beach. You are immediately warmly greeted by the staff and promptly seated. Most of the time the restaurant is quiet and peaceful as guest have ample room to sit and converse. If the owner "Va (pronounced Vaa)" is not busy he will usually make his rounds. Well regardless if he's busy he will eventually stop by to check on your experience. The lighting and decorum is comfortable for a nice date or you can enjoy a big group gathering with 2 groups of tables that can be combined to seat 16-20 people. I'm not sure if big groups are a norm, but the owner is very accommodating. Lastly, the food is awesome (if you like Thai food) and very reasonably priced. This place is a must come when visiting Virginia beach.

Of all the ameri-thai places I've been to around the country I have to say I might be most pleased with Thai Arroy. It's a small charming place tucked in a little shopping strip on the corner of Laskin and Birdneck rd. It's your typical small Asian restaurant ambience inside (clean) and the servers are dressed in traditional Thai ensembles. Okay, enough with atmosphere experience, the true experience to be had will be the party on your tastebuds. I will typically gravitate toward the Tom Kha or Tom Yum soups to start with a side of fresh spring rolls. I've had all three and I couldn't be more satisfied. Their light and bold Tom yum soup on a cold day is bound to warm you up with tangy flavors of lime and chili and your choice of protein. There have been times I had to add my own flavors at other restaurants to fit a more authentic Thai taste but Thai Arroy does this soup to perfection, as well as there Tom Kha! I'm impressed with their Pad Thai however they have me coming back not just for one or two items on the menu, I'm not a huge curry lover but I tried their green curry last night and I was sold. This is one of those (once a week) restaurants in my book. Thank goodness I'm a few blocks away. Enjoy!

A great hideaway Thai spot in the oceanfront area that's close by. I like the simple and clean look of the inside of the restaurant. The soups are always the best, they have a savory hot pot, and the meals are always a visual feast. You know that they take great pride in what they put on the plate. A great spot for Thai flavor!

Best Thai food east of the Mississippi. Compared to most DC or NYC places, this places feels he most authentic when it comes to the food and the hospitality. Nice preparation and solid delivery on staples like Pad Thai and Larb Gai. Dimly lit with a nice ambience. Kid friendly as well.

This place was great! Almost missed it when I was driving since its at the end of a strip mall. Like another reviewer noted: Don't let the outside of the building fool you! The food was great! Since it was my first time there I stuck to my basic red curry chicken which was delicious! I was a bit more interested in this coconut ice cream reviewers were talking about. We got it with the fried bananas because, who doesn't love fried bananas!? ;) It was sooo good! It was drizzled with honey and sprinkled with peanuts which were little added taste explosions in your mouth. Now, I'll be honest, a lot of Thai places taste the same to me. But what made this place stand out to me was that delicious dessert and our incredibly sweet and attentive server. So, anytime I'm in Virginia Beach and I'm craving Thai I'll definitely come back to this restaurant!! (And next time I'll try something a little more adventurous) ;)

Our family of four just had lunch. And everything we ordered was delicious!! The shrimp Pad Thai, the Kha Prao, and the drunken noodles were especially good! I would definitely recommend getting their desserts too! All homemade. We got the Mango ice cream and the fried banana with coconut ice cream!! If we lived nearby we would be frequent visitors!

The place is beautiful and the service was great. The food was equally delicious. We are foodies and this was authentic Thai food. We go to this place whenever we travel to VA Beach. The quality and quantity is very good. I enjoy the panag curry and vegetable fries rice. Try it!

This was definitely one of the better meals I had while in Virginia Beach, I was plenty surprised to see an authentic thai restaurant away from a major city center. I suppose the tourists here craves more authentic food as well :-) The location was very convienantly located at a major intersection only 5 min drive from the beach and boardwalk. We came here on a weekday for Lunch and in April so definitely didn't have many people in the area yet. It was even more surprising that the waitresses were in traditional Thai clothings and the restaurant so nicely decorated. We got a drunken flat noodles dish and a Spicy Fried Tilapia dish. The fish was by far one of the best thai seafood I've had. I used to go for simple curry dishes but lately been branching out after discovering how the spices changes the fish so differently. It was plenty spicy but not too much that I needed so much rice to balance out the taste. It was very well done, the fish were not too soft and not crust not crunchy either so really allow the sauce to combine with the fish meat well. Definitely a very enjoyable and unexpected meal. I'll have to give it 5 stars for the location and price. If you're ever in VA Beach definitely would have to give this place a try even if you don't usually try Thai food :-)

I randomly came here for dinner because it was the closest thai place nearby. Our server was really nice and attentive. Food came out in a timely manner. For appetizer: crying tiger (slices of skirt steak medium rare with a spicy dipping sauce and veggies). I ordered chicken pad thai spicy and with no eggs. It was really good but I should of asked for no msg (my belly is sensitive). Dessert: vegan coconut ice cream with fried banana egg rolls, caramel sauce and roasted peanuts on top. Sooooo delicious.

Fresh, clean, and decent. Appetizers sucked but the main courses were good. Sorry, but after reading the reviews I felt I should be blunt. I must have had way too good of thai throughout my life because I felt the reviews were a bit overrated.

We ordered take out from here. I got the pad Thai with chicken which was really good. We also ordered spring rolls as an app, but they were pretty unimpressive. Overall, the food was very good and we will definitely go back.

I lucked out, this restaurant is located right next to me! The owner is very sweet and always stops by our table. I always order the Gang Dang Pra which is delicious. My friends loved the pad thai. I recently tried the basil duck which may become my favorite dish there. The duck was moist and very flavorful everyone loved it at the table. The mango dessert afterwards is a great contrast to the spicy flavors in the food. Will definitely be returning.

It was really nice on the inside . N the food was excellent. I had the pad Thai n I have personally been to Thailand n had pad Thai there I have to say it was the closest I've ever had in the states. Crab Rangoon was off the charts also.

The highlight of this meal was the service: very friendly and attentive. We definitely felt like we were being well cared for. I've been looking for good Thai food in the Norfolk / Va Beach area and chose Thai Arroy based on the meal reviews I read here. Sadly, the food did not live up to some of the higher ratings posted. As some previous posters stated, I too am well traveled in Thailand; however, I did not find there to be a comparison at all. Additionally, the wine list leaves much to be desired.

This place is a couple blocks from my apartment and I am going to have a hard time staying away. I had the sauteed entree with chili, cashews, and scallions, tofu, and steamed rice. I also kicked things off with fried vegetable spring rolls. Everything was perfectly spiced and the flavors were superb. I plan to work my way through the menu. The service is phenomenal. I had a great time chatting with the owner and my waiter at the bar. I was there on a quiet week-night and they handed me the TV remote and told me to make myself at home. Sitting at the bar I got a small plate of shrimp chips while I waited. I love these delightful little snacks. If you're flying solo, I recommend sitting at the bar.

Great food, great service. Very clean and nice looking place. The food was perfect, I was asked if I wanted a little more kick, and they delivered. Ob-Woonsen was loaded with shrimp, and flavor. It was sweet had a little extra kick with ginger and pepper. No one flavor was overpowering. The rice noodles where perfect, the vegs had great flavor and texture. The iced green tea was great. Service was great, and fast. I would recommend this place to anyone in a heart beat.

When you first walk in you are immediately greeted by someone, that someone was the owner himself. He was very friendly and took the time to greet us, take us to our table, and explain the days specials. The atmosphere is beautiful, the servers are friendly and quick, the menu selections are vast. Another thing I noticed was the presentation of the food. It was delicately arranged and served on beautiful platters. The price was also reasonable. The only thing that I noticed was that the dish I had was typical. I feel as if I could have gone to any other thai restaurant and the dish would have tasted the same. There really was no extraordinary spice or taste to differentiate this dish from anywhere else. Great place though, would recommend as a great place for thai.

The most authentic Thai food you'll find in Virginia Beach. My family and I have been to Thailand multiple times and we absolutely love this restaurant. They're a bit pricier than their competitors, but I've always left happy and full. I've never had a bad meal but if I had to pick, I think I would choose the drunken noodles or panang curry or chicken basil kapow as my favorites. Service is great and the owner is more than accommodating. I highly recommend Thai Arroy.

I've been to cities all over Thailand and have not been able to find legitimate Thai food anywhere besides larger cities (like NYC and San Francisco). Mostly it's just Americanized- like a lot of restaurants in the more touristy areas of Thailand (which most Thais would say is not real thai food). I love the carts and hole-in-the-wall shacks that serve what locals like to eat, how locals like to eat it. That being said, this is one of those legit thai restaurants! We had N10 & C7 (dry curry and pad thai with coconut milk) and the papaya salad. All of it was true thai flavored: not too sweet or too bland. The only critique was that I found it to be less spicy than those same dishes that we'd eat in Thailand. But that can be remedied easily. All in all, I'd recommend it and I will definitely return!

I've eaten at a lot of Thai restaurants in Virginia Beach and this is my favorite so far. I don't give five stars often and this place deserves it. The service was excellent, everyone who worked here was very friendly and accommodating. The food was amazing and the portion sizes were pretty big. I'll definitely go back, again and again.

My girlfriend and I were really excited to try this place because of the reviews. However we weren't very impressed. We ordered spring rolls, drunken noodles, a chicken dish and fried rice. The only thing that was good was the fried rice and the service. Hate to say this but we probably won't come back.

Great food. Great service. We ordered spring rolls, pad Thai and green curry for lunch. The waitress was very courteous and attentive to our lunch needs. The appetizers were delivered quickly and the main course was delivered within 15 minutes. All in all a very positive experience.

This was the 1st restaurant that came up when I searched for Asian food in VA Beach on July 4th and it sure did not disappoint. Service - The waiter and waitress that served us were beyond helpful and nice. I could honestly say that they service was the best I've ever experienced! The waiter who seemed liked the owner explained in full detail their whole menu and the special dishes they had that day and was more than knowledges about all the dishes we had questions about - UBER HELPFUL! Food - We ordered the chicken pad see ew, chicken red curry, one of their specials that day which was steamed fish, and a DUCK DISH that stole the spotlight. All were moderately spicy and was very flavorful, nothing to complain about. The pad see we was very favorable and have a good balance of chicken and noodle! The curry was kind of watered down for my liking but it was still favorable and tasty with an abundance f vegetables and chicken. The steamed fish was probably the only miss dish for me, mostly because of my misinterpretation of the dish's description, so I do not blame the waiter/waitress. The dish was steamed and the texture was definitely something you had to be adjusted too. The duck dish (wished I remembered the dish's name :( but it was a killer! The waiter recommended that dish to us and it was beyond tasty, favorable, and preferred texture. I can't say enough about the dish! It had a bed of vegetables stir fried with crispy duck on top! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE DISH! Price - I felt like the prices were somewhat kind of expensive for the amount of food we got but don't get me wrong, I'll definitely be returning. The location has it's own parking lot and the dining area has a lot of space for big parties! Yayyyyyyy to this place!

There isn't much more to add beyond what Xerxes said about this place that I wouldn't say myself. The food was amazing, the staff was super friendly, accomodating, and helpful when exploring the menu. And since this was my first Thai experience, having help is a big bonus! I ordered the dumplings, which were steamed and stuffed with chicken and shrimp and served with fried minced garlic and soy sauce. I got 5 of them and I ate 3 and shared the other 2 with my boyfriend. We both enjoyed the dumplings very much! He ordered the larb kia and we were both pleasantly surprised with the combination of flavors this dish provided, an excellent choice. I had the Pad Mou Krop - aka "Valicious"! Can we say DELICIOUS!! The pork was nice and crispy with a hint of chili paste that made it the right kind of hot! My boyfriend had the Pad Thai Shrimp & Chicken which was also delcious! This dish scream THAI to me as it's seems very traditional with the ground peanuts and rice noodles. For dessert, I had the fried bananas - which were tasty. Thanks to Pam I had a taste of the coconut ice cream and in my one taste I could tell I should have ordered that instead. Not because the bananas were bad, but the ice cream was on point!! My boyfriend ordered the rice pudding. We will be back to try more dishes from this fine place! Thanks to Rick S. for suggesting this jewel!

Definitely the best Thai food in vb. Got the Thai dumpling appetizer, Thai iced tea (with one free refill!!), the green curry with chicken (spicy & so yummy), and the coconut ice cream with fried bananas. The food was SO good, the service was fast, and everyone working there was so friendly. You should absolutely go!!

I have never (and I mean never) sat in a restaurant booth next to a window that wasn't covered in dust, with the execption of Thai Arroy. This attention to detail is often over looked by most restaurants, no matter how high their rating is. The fact that Thai Arroy was spotless before the food even arrived rocked my world. Then my food came and I had the biggest grin on my face. The service was superb and super friendly. I cannot wait to return.

Don't let the slightly shady outside fool you. These people are friendly and the food is wonderful. The spring rolls were perfect and the mussa pad Thai was some of the best pad Thai I have had. I wasn't fond of the chive dumplings but my husband seemed to enjoy them. We will for sure be back to this place!

Excellent food and customer service. The Tom Kha soup was amazing as well as the chicken and shrimp Gang Dang. It is a little pricey, I took my 3 year old with me and they do not have a kids menu, however they modified a chicken satay appetizer for him turned it into a cheaper meal that he enjoyed. If you have never tried Tom Kha soup I highly recommend you give it a try, my favorite is the mixed seafood but they have a variety of proteins or you can select for it. All in all, I will be dining here again

i saw an advertisement for thai arroy in one of the free magazines you pick up at the beach. i used to frequent the baltimore location when i lived downtown, so i thought it would be a great place to go with my family on vacation and bring back some memories. it was pretty empty when we went, but the place is really big. the service was excellent. our waitress was polite and attentive. thai iced tea was delicious! portions were big. started with some tom yum soup - flavorful with a kick of spice and tang. i ordered the drunken noodles and tried my dad's pad thai. the vegetables in the drunken noodles seemed a little undercooked and the pad thai noodles were overcooked and sticking too much to each other. i still prefer the baltimore location taste-wise.

I had the same excellent service that others have raved about. Our waitresses were very attentive and helpful. We started with vegetarian egg rolls. They were delicious! I had Pad Thai and my husband had a fish dish. He loved his food and I enjoyed mine too. I was hoping for a just a little more flavor on my Pad Thai, but it was still really good!

We've discovered a new surprise in VB. This restaurant was one of the best Thai places we've been so far. The food is flavorful, fresh, spicy and beautifully presented. The service is nice, friendly and very efficient. The ambiance is nice and cozy. We had Chive dumplings and Fresh spring rolls for appetizers, some of their exotic dishes like quail and frog legs for entree and both were very good. The Coconut ice cream was wonderful too. The prices were adequate: $73 (total) for 2. And it's located quite close to the Boardwalk which is a plus for us as visiting VB people. We definitely planning to return and recommend this place to all who loves Thai cuisine.

I had last been to this location when it was a sushi restaurant, so when I walked in, I was a bit sad since I was looking forward to sushi. My husband and I live in a culinary wasteland, so I appreciate good food and usually plan vacations around where we'll eat next. Fortunately, Thai is a VERY close second as a favorite cuisine, so I gave the new place a try - and I'm very glad. Service was friendly and excellent. True, I would say that the spice levels are mild for my palate, but I also know that I'm probably more spice-tolerant than 80% of the American population. The good news about that is that the flavors are VERY well done - not heavy, greasy, or too timid - and the spices sneak up on you a bit and build to a lovely glow in your mouth. I will definitely come back, and I *DO* recommend this restaurant to Thai food lovers, even if the "experts" may be a little disappointed.

Somehow I had never tried this place, despite being a frequent customer of several other Thai places in the area. I read over some of the reviews here and I decided that it seemed worth a try. I phoned in an order for the Muss-Pad Thai with tofu. The lady on the phone was very cooperative and friendly when I requested the absence of fish sauce in my dish (I am a vegetarian). The food was ready when I arrived about ten minutes later. It tasted pretty good, not much different than your standard pad thai (which is not one of my favorite Thai dishes by any means, but I thought the addition of the curry paste sounded interesting). I was pleased that when I requested extra spicy it actually was quite spicy, but without detracting from the overall flavor. The only con to me was I think $11 for any variation of Pad Thai is very expensive... could have got the same portion at Tida Thai (my personal favorite) for $3 less. Overall, Arroy Thai seems like a worthy Thai restaurant, not exactly the best I've ever had but I'd probably return to try one of their curries next time.

Very impressive place. We had the best Larb Kai and Pad thai ever. The service was also great. We ordered an entree but was not what we had in mind, the the chef actually came to our table to explain and then he kindly offered to take it out the bill and asked us to order something else. Our waitress was super kind despite her young age, none the less, she was very patient and knowledgeable of the what is on the menu. Definitely will go back there in the future

We went here 2nd time and had to wait for an hour and half. If they were busy, they should have just given a heads up. When the food came, all the orders and spice level were messed up. This used to be a good restaurant but they need to change their staff. Very poor service.

I've been meaning to write this for a while. I've been to Thai Arroy 3 times and each time I was very pleased. Service: the service is excellent. The servers are very attentive and sweet. Food: The food is some of the best Thai food I've had in the area. I'm from Washington DC, where most Thai restaurants serve amazing food, so I was bummed when I couldn't find a good Thai restaurant in the area. That was before Thai Arroy. I've had the Pad Thai, the Thai Noodle Soup, and the Red Curry Chicken. All excellent. I even went on a limb and tried the vegetarian duck with my Pad Thai and it was, to my surprise, really good. The Red Curry chicken was delicious. The broccoli was steamed to perfection, the flavor intensity was just right, the chicken was not overcooked. The Thai noodle soup with chicken was good, but it could have had some more pizazz. The Thai ice tea was way too sweet, to the point that I had to water it down several times. Overall, great food, and great people.

I was not impressed with the food. Food was just ok. I'm giving it a 3 star because service was really good. If not for the service I would scored them a 2 star. I love Thai food. I've had Thai food all over the US and I can say the food here is in the bottom of my list.

I was not at all impressed with their food but service was awesome. Their pad thai was not good! It tasted like they couldn't get the sauce right like they put too much fish sauce in it at first and tried to correct it by adding lots of lime juice. The noodles were mushy and chicken was dry. Try the mr green entree, that was decent. Their coconut rice and mango dessert was dry and the mango was not sweet. This restaurant was overpriced and not worth the money.

A hidden gem! My husband & I were in town for the Shamrock marathon. We normally have Thai food as our pre-race meal. Thai Arroy was such a pleasant surprise - a little hard to find but worth the effort. They have some really unique items on the menu - stuff we don't even get at our favorite Washington DC restaurants. Everything was perfectly prepared and our server was very helpful and friendly. We'll definitely go back next year!

It's official, we've found the BEST, most delicious, flavorful Thai restaurant in Hampton Roads--perhaps in all of Virginia!!?? They have another location in Baltimore and been in Virginia Beach since August 2010 I believe. The meat and vegetable portions were unlike anything seen in any other Asian restaurant. The flavors didn't need any additions or tweaking. We've had noodles, rice, traditional green curry and appetizers and everything was cooked and seasoned with perfection. It is a hidden gem--we hate to spread the word as it is our new favorite place, but it is soo impressive that we feel obligated to share such news. Enjoy and savor it+
